The family met the Spears after they became next door neighbors in Belmont (Pueblo) in 1955. J.P was the AT&SF (Santa Fe) Trainmaster in Pueblo. About 1959 the Spears were transfered to Kansas and in 1963 Beech's career with the Defense Department sent him and Dixie to Washington DC. Throughout the years the famalies stayed in touch and often visited during vacations.
